Counselling/Psychotherapy

  • Individual, Couples
  • Adult, Adolescent

For many of us our lives are conducted in the past or the future, learning to live in the moment exactly as it is is one of the most powerful lessons.

Sometimes our lives change in ways that are difficult for us to manage and we may need assistance to understand these shifts and to learn new strategies to assist us through these times. Sometimes we just reach a point in our lives where we feel ‘stuck’ and want to discover a new way of being in the world, we want to learn to see things in a different perspective.

Some issues you may seek help from a therapist for include:

  • Anger management
  • Anxiety & phobias
  • Bullying
  • Depression
  • Eating disorders
  • Grief & loss
  • Intimacy
  • Impulsive behaviors
  • Life transition and adjustment issues
  • Post-natal depression
  • Self-esteem
  • Self-harm
  • Sexual abuse
  • Stress
  • Substance abuse
  • Self development
  • Suicidal thinking/attempts
  • Trauma

Therapeutic approaches

Gail is committed to a collaborative approach where the client and their needs and values rather than a particular therapeutic modality, determine the direction of the counseling. She uses a range of therapeutic approaches including:

  • CBT* (Cognitive Behavior Therapy)
  • Narrative
  • ACT* (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)
  • DBT*(Dialectical Behavior Therapy)
  • Solution Focused

**incorporates mindfulness techniques

Rebates for Psychological Services

In November 2006 Medicare rebates were introduced for a range of individual and group psychological services. To be eligible for this rebate (up to 12 individual and 12 group sessions per year) you must have a referral from your GP. For further information visit the Medicare website or call the clinic.

Many private health funds also offer rebates for psychological services. You will need to check with your fund for the rebates they offer.
